Ghanaian actress Matilda Asare has graduated from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) with a master’s degree in human resources and management (Strategy). The ceremony took place on Friday, June 27, 2025, at the university’s campus in Kumasi.

Best known for her roles in Kumawood films, Matilda shared that her academic journey was far from smooth. She first earned a bachelor’s degree in HR and Management from Baptist University College in 2011, balancing school with her acting career. However, family duties and work commitments forced her to pause multiple times.

“I had to pause several times because of work, raising kids, and family responsibilities. But I never gave up on going back to complete what I started,” she explained.

Her decision to pursue further education was driven by a desire to deepen her understanding of management, especially as she prepares to step into the role of film producer. “It felt necessary to learn more about management because I’m now moving into producing movies,” she added.

The ceremony was attended by notable industry figures, including Rev. Samuel Nyamekye (Miracle Films), Apostle John Prah, and director Jones Agyeman, who showed up in support.

Matilda’s academic feat underscores a growing trend among Ghanaian entertainers returning to school. Artists like Van Vicker, Guru, Jackie Appiah, and Samini have all pursued higher education while maintaining their presence in the creative industry.

This shift signals a new era where education is not just about personal growth but a strategy for career sustainability, leadership, and long-term impact in Ghana’s creative space.
