DCE Dodzi Addison Mornyui join the people to clean the environment
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Central Tongu District, Mr. Dodzi Addison Mornyui, has joined residents of Bakpa Avedo to observe this month’s National Sanitation Day with a community clean-up exercise aimed at improving road safety and environmental cleanliness.
The exercise focused on clearing overgrown bushes along major roads in the community, which had reduced visibility for motorists and reportedly contributed to several road accidents in the area.
Speaking during the exercise, Hon. Mornyui said the initiative was a practical step to protect lives, enhance safety for road users, and promote good sanitation practices at the community level. He emphasized that sanitation is a shared responsibility and encouraged residents to maintain regular cleaning activities beyond the monthly sanitation days.
Residents of Bakpa Avedo actively participated in the exercise, cutting bushes and clearing debris along the roadsides. The DCE commended the community for their cooperation and commitment, noting that collective action remains key to achieving a clean and safe environment.
The National Sanitation Day forms part of government efforts to promote cleanliness, prevent sanitation-related health risks, and encourage community participation in environmental management across the country.
