Mahama’s approval rating hit the roof – Mussa Danquah hints of latest poll

The Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mr. Mussa Dankwah, has revealed that the majority of Ghanaian voters say the economic conditions being witnessed today in Ghana are as a result of the practical policies of the current President Mahama-led NDC government.

According to the pollster in a Facebook post, President Mahama “suffocates” the New Patriotic Party in the Ashanti Region, as the majority of voters in that region approve of his job performance for the first time.

In the yet-to-be-released survey reports, Mr. Dankwah said the Eastern and North East regions are slipping away from the “NPP as Mahama’s approval rating hit the roof.”

Although he is yet to release the results of the said polls, it is worth noting that his polls in the lead-up to the 2024 general elections closely reflect the results of December 2024.

On November 29, 2024, survey reports released by the Global InfoAnalytics predicted a clear victory for John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, in the 2024 presidential elections.

According to their polls, John Mahama was expected to secure 52.2% of the vote, edging out Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who is projected to receive 41.4%.

At the end of the polls on December 7, 2024, John Mahama won 56.3 percent of the vote against 41.3 percent for Bawumia.

Some notable voting trends

In 2016 presidential election, John Mahama – the then incumbent President lost to NPP’s Akufo-Addo with the NPP winning seven 7 regions namely Ahafo, Ashanti, Bono, Central, Eastern, Greater Accra and Western.

In 2020 election, John Mahama and the NDC staged a strong comeback and won nine (9) regions namely Volta, Oti, Savannah, Upper East, Upper East, Northern, Bono East, Greater Accra and Western North out of the sixteen regions but could not win the national consolidated results.

The NDC then came back stronger with an impressive performance in the 2024 election winning thirteen (13) regions with the then ruling NPP getting only three (3) namely Ashanti, North East and Eastern regions.

With just six (6) months in office, the survey is predicting a possible fall of North East and Eastern regions to the NDC will leave the NPP with only one (1) region – Ashanti to win should elections are held today.
