President John Dramani Mahama has called for greater accountability in public service, stressing that leadership must be grounded in responsibility, not personal gain.
Speaking at the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service at the State House in Accra on July 1, Mahama stated:
“Public office is a responsibility, not a privilege for personal gain. We must hold those in authority accountable.”
His remarks come amid growing public demand for integrity and transparency in governance. The President’s message was a strong appeal for ethical leadership and a renewed commitment to national values.
He also underscored the importance of the prayer service, calling it a moment of unity and reflection for Ghanaians of all faiths. The event brought together religious leaders, politicians, civil society groups, and citizens from across the country.
Mahama urged citizens to remain engaged, demand accountability, and work together to build a just and prosperous Ghana.
