Mahama fulfills promise to paramount chief of Bongo, appoints Edward Bawa as acting CEO of GNPC

President John Dramani Mahama in fulfillment of a promise to the Paramount Chief of the Bongo Traditional Area, Naba Baba Salifu Aleemyarum not to neglect Bongo in his appointments during the 2024 elections tour has appointed Edward Bawa as the Acting Chief Executive Officer for the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).

In the run up to the 2024 general elections president John Dramani Mahama in response to the Paramount Chief of the Bongo Traditional Area on appointments in his next government, pledge to consider appointing some deserving people from the constituency.

President John Dramani Mahama has today  January 17, 2025, appointed the former Member of Parliament for Bongo as Acting CEO of GNPC and effective today. In a letter to the former MP states “His Excellency John Dramani Mahama President of the Republic of Ghana, in accordance with Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 10(2) of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation Act, 1983 (P.N.D.C.L. 64), has appointed you as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation pending receipt of the required advice of the Honourable Minister for Energy, in consultation with the Public Services Commission.”

The Minister for Energy, in consultation with the Public Services Commission will advice the president on the commitment level and leadership qualities of Edward Bawa for continuity at the institution.

Through Dr Callistus Mahama, President John Dramani Mahama, extended best wishes to the former MP for his tenure.
