The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has instituted an Adjudication Review Committee to look into cases of alleged multiple registrations, minors and foreigners registrations in the ongoing limited voter registration exercise.
The Committee’s work is part of the Commission’s effort to ensure Ghana has a credible register for this year’s general elections.
Members of the Committee are from civil society organisations, political parties (NPP, NDC, CPP among others), the Director of Education and some officials of the EC.
Mr. John Appiah Baffoe, Ahafo Regional Director of EC, indicated that the committee is geared towards addressing the existing challenge system at the district levels where persons alleged to be non-Ghanaians can provide more evidence to support their nationality or origin.
He stressed that the registration has been successful so far and most of the registrants have been registered so the extension would be mop up for the exercise.
