A heartwarming donation exercise by VOLTA TIME,  a non governmental organization at Nyitawuta Basic School in the Akatsi North District of the Volta Region has been overshadowed by deep-rooted infrastructural challenges confronting the school, raising urgent calls for intervention.

The gesture, which included books, sanitary pads and other educational materials meant to enhance teaching and learning, quickly turned into an emotional appeal session as school authorities highlighted the dire conditions under which pupils and teachers operate.

Addressing the gathering, the Headmaster, Mr. Agamah, the School Improvement Support Officer (SISO), Rev. Gershon Amedorme, and the School Management Committee (SMC) Chairman, Apostle Ernest Akpalu, all expressed grave concern over the school’s lack of potable drinking water  a challenge they say has persisted for years.

According to them, pupils are forced to rely on unsafe water sources, posing serious health risks and disrupting academic activities.

The leadership further revealed another pressing challenge, the absence of a Junior High School (JHS) classroom block, forcing graduating pupils to walk long distances to access JHS education in neighboring communities.

They described the situation as “disturbing and disheartening,” stressing that it continues to demotivate learners and contributes to school dropouts.

The school officials are therefore appealing passionately to private individuals, benevolent organizations, NGOs, and government institutions to come to their aid.

They emphasized that while donations of learning materials are always appreciated, addressing the water crisis and JHS infrastructure gap will make a far more lasting impact on the academic journey of the children of Nyitawuta.

Thanking the CEO of the group, Mr. Samuel Samuel OneGod Atakpah, the community hopes that the spotlight brought by VOLTA TIMEE’s donation will attract the needed attention and support from stakeholders to improve conditions at the school.
