As thousands of Ghanaians and international tourists prepare to ascend the mountainous terrain of Kwahu for the annual Easter festivities, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Mpraeso, Davis Ansah Opoku, has moved to allay any public safety concerns.
Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, April 9, the MP, in collaboration with top security agencies, assured the public that Kwahu is ready, safe, and fully prepared to host this year’s celebrations.
“Kwahu is peaceful, and Kwahu is ready. We are excited to host Ghanaians and international guests alike,” Opoku stated confidently.
“The security services, emergency responders, and local authorities are working together to deliver a safe, vibrant, and memorable experience,” he said.
The Easter celebrations in Kwahu, have over the years evolved from a regional holiday tradition into a national and international tourism magnet, with a blend of cultural displays, street carnivals, music concerts, and adventure sports, particularly the famed paragliding festival.
The event now contributes significantly to local economic activity and domestic tourism.
With the expected surge in human traffic, security remains a top priority. Addressing this, the Eastern North Regional Police Commander, DCOP Isaac Asante, revealed that over 1,000 police officers will be strategically deployed across the Kwahu area to ensure law and order during the celebration period.
“The region is calm, and we will maintain law and order throughout Easter. We are committed to protecting lives and property,” DCOP Asante assured.
