Okaikwei Central MP, Patrick Yaw Boamah, has revealed that former President John Agyekum Kufuor is deeply concerned about the current state of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to Boamah, Kufuor is alarmed by the breakdown in internal discipline and the loss of the party’s core values.
Speaking on The Point of View on Channel One TV, Boamah said the former President shared these concerns during a personal encounter at the funeral of retired Justice Sulemana Gbadegbe.
“He is worried about the state of the party, I can tell you for free,” Boamah disclosed. “I met him on Friday at the funeral, and the first thing he asked was, ‘How is the party front?’ That shows how much the NPP means to him.”
Boamah’s comments echo growing concerns within the NPP about the party’s internal disunity, weak leadership, and its ability to rebuild following the loss of power in the 2024 elections.
He stressed the need for national executives to take urgent action to restore order and unity, warning that the lack of strong leadership is damaging the party’s image and structure.
“In the past, we had bold, principled chairmen who could even challenge the President or flagbearer when necessary,” he said. “They knew how to rally the team and keep the party on track.”
Boamah’s remarks serve as a call to action for the NPP leadership to return to its roots and rebuild trust, discipline, and direction.
