Ghanaian singer-songwriter Kuami Eugene has revealed that his new haircut represents more than just a change in style; it marks a personal and professional rebirth following his departure from Lynx Entertainment.

In an interview with Doreen Avio on YouTube, the Monica hitmaker said the haircut symbolizes a fresh start in his journey.

“It’s been six years since I had a down cut. I’ve been changing styles, twisting, unbraiding, leaving it in an afro. This cut is my way of saying I’ve transitioned. It’s a new beginning from Lynx to a new chapter,” he shared.

Kuami Eugene, born Eugene Kwame Marfo, explained that plans to exit Lynx Entertainment had been in motion long before the public found out. He said by the time he released Monica, discussions were already underway.

“Richie was actually the first to publicly say I had left. But talks started long ago. When Monica came out, I was already halfway out. By the time Belinda dropped, I wasn’t with Lynx at all,” he clarified.

He acknowledged the range of reactions that followed his departure. While some industry voices supported the move, others expressed concern.

“A Plus said that with the right management, I’d go very far on my own. That means a lot to me,” he noted.

However, Kuami Eugene also responded to rapper Guru, who predicted challenges after his exit from Lynx.

“Guru said I’d flop, but he’s the SRC president of Legon now, and I respect that. I used to watch his concerts. So out of respect, I won’t say much,” he said.

Kuami Eugene rose to prominence after winning MTN Hitmaker in 2016. He went on to sign with Lynx Entertainment and is best known for hit songs like Angela, Wish Me Well, Open Gate, and Take Away. He won VGMA Artiste of the Year in 2020 and is widely praised for his songwriting skills and vocal talent.

His recent revelations suggest that, beyond the haircut, a bold new phase of his career has officially begun.
