Kojo Choi has shared a personal moment that has drawn public attention to Ghana’s cultural influence and the role of indigenous language in shaping identity.
In a social media post titled “Ghana to the World #5 (Twi on the Stage)”, the Ghanaian Ambassador to South Korea noted that his 20-month-old daughter, although yet to speak, already responds positively to the Twi language. He observed that her reaction to Twi is stronger than to English or Korean.
Kojo Choi is a naturalized Ghanaian citizen of South Korean origin who has lived in Ghana for over three decades. He is a businessman and fintech entrepreneur and the founder of PaySwitch Limited. He was appointed Ghana’s Ambassador to South Korea as part of efforts to strengthen diplomatic, economic and cultural ties between Ghana and the Republic of Korea.
According to him, the experience reflects how Ghanaian culture continues to shape lives across generations and borders. He stated that the same country that raised him is now influencing his daughter through language and cultural connection.
