Honorable Adams made this promise while delivering an address on the floor of Ghana’s Parliament, where he reiterated the importance of having the Sports Funds Bill passed into law and the immense contribution it can have on Ghana’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product).
“I will donate two months of my salary to the Ghana Sports Fund effective February 2026… If we expect the private sector to invest, if we expect (sports) federations to reform, if we expect young athletes to commit, then leadership must also commit,” he said.
The minister, who doubles as the MP for Buem, respectfully called on other members to replicate the same.
“I respectfully call on members of this house, ministers of state, and the executive to support this fund in tangible ways. “The government has delivered the framework,” he added.
The National Investment Bank (NIB) became the first institution to donate to the fund, pumping in GH₵100,000 cedis to support the activities of the Ghana Sports Fund.
The fund is mandated to mobilize and manage resources transparently to support athlete welfare, grassroots development, sports infrastructure, capacity building, and elite performance preparation.
