The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has endorsed the Ghana Football Association’s decision to strengthen the Black Stars’ technical bench ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
On February 6, the Ghana Football Association announced the appointment of five new backroom staff members to support the senior national team at the global tournament to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Alain Ravera and Kim Lars Björkegren have been named assistant coaches, while Jose Daniel Martínez Alfonso joins as team analyst.
Carlos Lozano Romero takes up the role of psychologist, with Dwayne Peasah Paa Kwesi appointed performance coach.
Speaking to Citi Sports, Adams said expanding the technical team was standard practice for major tournaments, stressing the need for adequate preparation for the demanding schedule.
Ghana, making their fifth World Cup appearance, has been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.
The four-time African champions will open their campaign against Panama on June 17.
The team will camp at Bryant University in the United States and play preparatory friendlies against Austria, Germany, and Mexico.
