KK Fosu mourns late Highlife legend Dada KD

Ghanaian Highlife musician KK Fosu has paid an emotional tribute to his late friend and music icon, Dada KD, who passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025.

Speaking to GNA Entertainment, KK Fosu described Dada KD as his “music hero” and expressed deep sorrow over his unexpected death.

“I’m heartbroken. We talked often, and I never knew he was unwell. He was even preparing for a London show next month,” he said. “He was my hero, and we had so much in common.”

Dada KD’s passing has shocked fans and fellow musicians across Ghana, with tributes pouring in on social media. Although the cause of death remains unknown, many are celebrating his musical legacy.

The late Highlife star, known for timeless hits like Somugye, Ebeboawo, and Odo Mu Anigyebi, released nine albums throughout his career. He also performed on global stages and won several accolades, including Best Male Vocalist at the 2004 Ghana Music Awards (UK).

KK Fosu called on fans to honour Dada KD’s memory with a befitting farewell once funeral details are announced.
