Passenger traffic at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) fell by 10.3% year-on-year in March 2025, according to new figures released by the Bank of Ghana. The airport recorded 98,146 arrivals, down from 109,380 during the same month in 2024.
However, on a month-to-month basis, tourist arrivals edged up by 2.2%, showing a slight recovery.
In the first quarter of 2025, Ghana recorded 295,415 arrivals across both the international airport and land borders. This marks a 4.1% drop compared to 308,024 arrivals in the same period last year.
Ports and Harbours Record Growth
While air traffic declined, seaport activity saw a significant boost. International trade through Tema and Takoradi Ports, measured by container traffic, surged during the review period.
Total laden container traffic jumped 22.0% year-on-year to reach 73,577 in March 2025. Over the first three months of the year, cumulative container movement hit 205,145, up 20.5% from the first quarter of 2024.
