The Ketu South Municipal Assembly has initiated stakeholder consultations as part of moves to elevate the municipality to a metropolitan status.
The Assembly has extended invitations to key stakeholders within the municipality to participate in discussions aimed at gathering inputs and building consensus on the proposed elevation.
In a formal communication signed by the Municipal Chief Executive, Nicholas Kwabla Worclachie, the Assembly indicated that arrangements have been made to receive a delegation from Accra to deliberate on issues relating to the proposed status upgrade.
According to the Assembly, the engagement forms part of the consultative process required to address key requirements, assess readiness, and incorporate stakeholder contributions necessary to advance the proposal.
The meeting is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at the Assembly Conference Room.
The Assembly emphasised that the participation and support of stakeholders are critical in achieving a unified position on the development agenda, which is expected to enhance administrative capacity, improve service delivery, and accelerate socio-economic growth within the municipality.
The initiative is widely seen as a significant step towards strengthening local governance and positioning Ketu South to meet the criteria required for metropolitan designation.
Officials have expressed optimism that the consultative process will foster collaboration among stakeholders and help chart a clear path towards the municipality’s proposed upgrade.
