The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ketu North, Eric Edem Agbana, has reaffirmed government’s commitment to compensate property owners whose properties are marked for demolition to make way for the construction of the Ho-Tokor road.
The tour was to assess the progress of key government interventions, particularly under the Big Push Program in the Volta Region.

This follows agitations from several affected individuals in Dzodze, one of the communities that have raised concerns over lack of compensation and resettlement plans.
Addressing the media during a tour by the Volta MP’s Caucus in Parliament, the outspoken lawmaker said plans are underway to fully compensate the affected people.
“We had a town hall meeting with all the property owners; there is an understanding that compensation will be paid before the demolition exercise takes place, and so all the property owners are waiting patiently. So we are not worried any longer because the assurance from the government is that compensation will be paid,” he stated.
Hon. Agbana further explained that a short-term committee made up of property owners and other stakeholders has been formed to make headway regarding the compensation.
“We also formed an interim management committee (IMC) of a sort involving the property owners and other stakeholders, and there is clear communication on the way forward regarding the issue of compensation. I must say those concerns were raised in the past, but currently everyone is relaxing,” he added.
He concluded that President Mahama has turned the entire country into a massive construction site, adding that he is poised to see the Volta Region receives its share of these transformative development projects.
He was joined and led by the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, and the Chairman of the Volta Caucus in Parliament, Hon. Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah.
