Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, has officially announced his intention to contest the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries ahead of the 2028 general elections.
In a statement issued on Monday, July 29, Agyapong confirmed:
“Now that nominations have been opened, I will be contesting for the New Patriotic Party’s 2028 Presidential Primaries.”
Campaign Backed by Widespread Support
Agyapong expressed deep gratitude for the broad base of support he has received from party members, professionals, youth, and Members of Parliament, some of whom have pledged to personally fund his nomination.
He emphasized that his campaign is not a personal ambition but a collective mission for national progress.
“Together, we will build a Ghana where every citizen has a fair shot at success. I am ready to listen, and to lead with integrity and purpose,” he noted.
Acknowledging His Team
The declaration also coincided with a personal tribute to his Communications Director and General Manager of Kencity Group, Lawyer Kwaku Amoh-Darteh, whose birthday fell on the same day.
“I take this opportunity to wish him a happy birthday and to thank him and every member of the team for the incredible work you continue to do,” Agyapong stated.
As one of the prominent voices within the NPP, Agyapong’s entry into the race adds significant weight to the upcoming primaries and sets the stage for a heated leadership contest.
