Ken Ofori-Atta, Former Finance Minister
Ken Ofori-Atta, former Finance Minister, is recovering well after undergoing prostate cancer surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
The four-hour robotic-assisted procedure took place on Friday, June 13, 2025. His wife, Professor Angela Ofori-Atta, confirmed the successful surgery in an official statement.
Doctors at the Mayo Clinic expressed satisfaction with the outcome and have placed him on a strict postoperative care plan.
Professor Ofori-Atta acknowledged that the past few days have been difficult, particularly as the surgery coincided with a red alert issued by the Office of the Special Prosecutor against her husband. However, she remains hopeful and confident in his recovery.
She also thanked the public, the clergy, and well-wishers for their prayers and ongoing support during this challenging time.
Ken Ofori-Atta served as Ghana’s Finance Minister from 2017 to 2024. He played a key role in spearheading economic reforms and securing an IMF bailout during the country’s financial crisis.
The family has not announced when he will return to Ghana.
