Former Assin Central MP and NPP flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong, hosted 268 ex-MMDCEs for a lunch meeting at his private office in Accra. The engagement comes shortly after the NPP set January 31, 2026, as the date for its presidential primaries.
“We had a frank and forward-looking conversation about the party’s future and the urgent need to rebuild on unity, fairness, and grassroots respect,” he posted on Facebook.
Agyapong criticized the Akufo-Addo administration for sidelining MMDCEs. He argued that centralized decision-making in Accra had weakened local governance and delayed development.
“That will change under my leadership. I will restore dignity to public service and return real power to the people on the ground,” he assured.
He also reaffirmed his decision to contest the primaries and promised reforms that would empower local authorities.
This meeting follows a show of support for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who recently hosted over 60 NPP MPs backing his flagbearer bid.
As the primary race heats up, both camps are increasing their outreach to key party stakeholders.
