KEEA distributes phase two of its Smart KG initiative to schools

Elmina (C/R), Aug02, GNA – The Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipal Assembly has distributed phase two of its Smart Kindergarten(KG) initiative television sets to schools within the area.

The “Smart KG Initiative” is a nationwide effort by the government to enhance early childhood education, particularly at the KG level, by incorporating technology and innovative teaching methods.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) is leading this initiative, which includes elements like the use of digital learning platforms, teacher training, and parental engagement programmes.

A total of 20 basic schools benefitted from the phase two in KEEA and took home two sets of televisions, one each for KG one and two.

Fifteen schools within the Municipality had already benefitted during the phase one distribution.

Mr Ishmael Zagoon Saeed, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE),said the move was to help bridge the gap between private and public schools in improving teaching and learning outcomes across the country.

He said young children would be provided with quality educational resources for them to have engaging learning experiences, while encouraging parents to enroll more children in KG for them to participate in early learning programmes.Education KG Distribution2

Again, the programme would help address the low levels of parental engagement in early learning activities by providing training and support to parents.

Madam Elizabeth Takyi-Menson, the Headmistress of Ayensudo A.M.E. Zion Basic school on behalf of the beneficiary institutions, thanked the Assembly for the gesture, and assured them of utilising the learning materials for the intended purpose and ensuring their proper maintenance.
