Abdul Karim Zito has resigned from his role as the head coach of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club with immediate effect.
The announcement was made official through the club’s social media channels, which stated,
“Abdul Karim Zito Kabutey has resigned from his role as the head coach of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club with immediate effect.
“Management has accepted the resignation, expressed its appreciation to the coach for his services, and wished him the best for the future. The new technical direction of the club will be communicated in due course.”
The resignation brings a swift end to a period of intense speculation surrounding Zito’s future, which escalated following Kotoko’s elimination from the MTN FA Cup last weekend.
Earlier on Monday, the club’s management had publicly stated that no final decision had been made regarding the coach, though they admitted they were convinced with the team’s results.
Zito’s tenure ends amid a challenging season for the Porcupine Warriors, who have struggled with inconsistency under his leadership.
The new technical direction of the club will be communicated in due course.
