Zito recently parted ways with the two-time Champions League champions after a string of unimpressive results in the domestic competitions.
In an interview with Kumasi-based Akoma FM, the former Dreams FC gaffer botched to rule out a return to the Ghanaian giants, emphasizing that his loyalty to the Porcupine Warriors will never change.
Quizzed about a possible Kotoko returned, and Zito responded, “I don’t know. I honestly don’t know. But one thing is certain: I am still Kotoko, and I will continue to be Kotoko for the rest of my life. Go and look at my car; you’ll see the flag there.”
Pushed further on whether a future return could happen, he added, “Oh, it might be possible. One day, I could come back. But for now, this chapter is closed. Next time, we’ll see.”
Zito’s achievement in the domestic scene speaks volumes. During his time with Kotoko, he guided the Porcupine Warriors to multiple trophies, including the FA Cup, President’s Cup, and Toyota Cup, reinforcing his reputation as a serial winner.
Before that, he enjoyed a historic run with Dreams FC, steering the club to a remarkable semi-final finish in the CAF Confederation Cup, where they eventually bowed out to Egyptian powerhouse Zamalek SC.
Shortly after leaving Kotoko, Zito took up a new challenge with FC AshantiGold, where he now serves as the club’s technical director. The move allows him to continue contributing to Ghanaian football through technical development and team building.
Although he has moved on to a new role, Zito’s latest comments suggest that the door to Kotoko may never be fully closed.
For now, the veteran coach is focused on his new responsibilities, but as he hinted, a return to the Porcupine Warriors could still be possible in the future.
