President John Mahama has appointed veteran Ghanaian actress and filmmaker Kalsoume Sinare Baffoe as Ghana’s new Ambassador to Spain.
The Office of the President announced her appointment in a statement dated June 10, 2025, and signed by Secretary to the President Dr. Callistus Mahama. The statement, released on June 21, also listed 14 other diplomatic appointments.
Kalsoume Sinare is a household name in Ghana. She rose to fame with films like Out of Sight, Crossfire, and Ties That Bind. Over the years, she earned praise for her versatility and impact in the entertainment industry.
Moreover, she brings experience in public engagement and advocacy for women’s empowerment. She holds a diploma in Theatre Arts from the University of Ghana, a degree in Public Service and Governance, and a master’s in International Relations and Diplomacy from GIMPA.
Importantly, Sinare has used her platform to champion youth development, education, and gender equity. With these credentials, she is well-positioned to represent Ghana in Spain.
Additionally, the list of new appointments includes:
- Benjamin A. Quashie as High Commissioner to South Africa
- Kojo Bonsu, former Kumasi Mayor, as Ambassador to China
- Prof. Kwasi Obiri-Danso, former KNUST Vice-Chancellor, as Ambassador to India
These appointments reflect President Mahama’s strategy to combine public recognition with diplomatic expertise.
