In a strongly worded post on his personal Facebook wall, Paa Kwesi Schandorf, a journalist with Joy FM known for his commentary and journalistic work, has criticized the women’s fellowship group AGLOW for what he describes as “hypocritical and politically motivated” prayer sessions.
“Prayer is good, and so when a group gathers to pray, no one should be miffed, but the hypocrisy of AGLOW is too glaring to ignore and here’s why,” he began.
According to Schandorf, when Akufo-Addo was President and the country faced numerous challenges, AGLOW remained silent instead of turning to prayer. He questioned why the group has now suddenly become vocal under the current administration.
“Despite the harsh economic situation, these passionate intercessors were mute, yet all of a sudden, they have found their voices in what appears to be nothing but sheer political gimmicks!” he wrote.
He further criticized the tone and content of their recent prayer meeting, suggesting the themes were laced with partisan undertones.
“Indeed, if you study the posture at their recent meeting, you’ll see the propaganda in their prayer topics, and you wonder why they’ll use prayer for politics.”
Schandorf concluded by expressing his frustration but reaffirmed his respect for civil liberties.
“Thankfully, we’re a civil society, and that’s why nobody will think about invading their next meeting with stones, but respectfully, our mothers must stop this selective outrage, because it’s simply annoying!”
