The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, John Setor Dumelo, has taken another bold step to continue to serve his constituents by providing free Ghana-made cocoa drinks to class 1 to class 4 pupils of all public schools in his constituency.
The initiative will start from March 2 and will be done once a week until the end of the year 2026.
As one of Ghana’s exports, cocoa serves as a highly nutritional powerhouse, especially for growing children, and is very rich in essential antioxidants, iron, and magnesium, which are vital for cognitive development and maintaining high energy levels throughout the school day.
Beyond the health benefits, the initiative underscores his commitment to boost local industry by sourcing exclusively Ghana-made products and to support the hardworking cocoa farmers and local manufacturers.
Also, to enhance school attendance by providing nutritious incentives, which encourages consistent enrollment and participation in public schools.
It seeks to promote national pride, where children will grow up to appreciate that it fosters a lifelong connection to the national heritage.
The program is a testament that a healthy child is a teachable child and also marks one of the national activities to celebrate Ghana Month.
