Joana Gyan boosts education in Amenfi Central with scholarships and infrastructure

George Washington Carver once said, “Education is the key to unlock the golden door of freedom”. This wise saying has motivated Dr. Joana Gyan, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Amenfi Central, to focus on improving the educational conditions in her community.

Despite her successes in other sectors, Dr. Gyan is widely known for her contributions to education. As a forward-thinking MP aspirant, Joana believes that providing education to her people is key to securing their future.

Over the years, the renowned businesswoman has supported the roofing of the Bonsie Islamic School building. She has also awarded four-year scholarships to 120 pupils in the Manukrom and Jerusalem communities, located within the constituency. These scholarships will enable the students to further their basic education in private schools.

Additionally, the energetic parliamentary aspirant has provided school furniture for the Agona Nyamebekyere Basic School and supported some constituents in university.

Her support for tertiary students includes hosting and sponsoring the maiden Tertiary Students Symposium for Amenfi Central students at KNUST. She also provided financial assistance to 182 tertiary students, each receiving GH₵500, totaling GH₵91,000.

In terms of infrastructure, Dr. Gyan donated 100 bags of cement for the completion of a school project in the Agave community. She also presented roofing sheets to the Ankasie and Donkokrom community schools and purchased land for building a school in the Kojo-Yaw community.

Adding to her numerous achievements in this sector, Dr. Gyan supported the renovation of 3-unit and 6-unit classroom blocks in Agona Nyamebekyre and Agona Amenfi.
