Electoral Commission Chairperson Jean Mensa is expected to appear before Parliament this week to address the ongoing electoral stalemate in the Ablekuma North Constituency.

The seat has remained vacant since the December 7 general elections due to unresolved discrepancies in results from multiple polling stations. The stalled collation process has left the constituency without a representative for over six months, sparking growing frustration among constituents.

In response, the Minority Caucus filed a petition on June 4 with the Ghana Police Service, requesting heightened security to ensure a safe and transparent re-collation of results. The move aims to create a secure environment for the EC to complete its constitutional mandate without interference.

Jean Mensa is set to meet with Parliament’s Committee of the Whole, where she is expected to brief lawmakers on the status of the dispute and the Commission’s roadmap for resolution.

The Committee is anticipated to press for a clear timeline and firm assurances regarding when the final results will be announced and a new Member of Parliament declared.
