Awake News can confirm that the Principal of the Jasikan College of Education, Dr Daniel Kwesi Hammond, is returning to office today, November 20, 2025, following Awake News’ report on his vacation of post for over 12 weeks.
Our sources within the College say, “…the Principal is said to be on his way to campus from Ho, [the Volta Regional capital]”.
Awake News reported yesterday that the staff of the Jasikan College are agitating over their denial of access to the GETFund Staff Development Fund for the past 7years, and also the Principal, Dr. Hammond, has vacated the post for over 12weeks, making them unable to have access to him for the resolution of their long-standing grievances. They also threaten a demonstration over their frustration.
In an interview with the Principal, he stated that he had been working for 7 years and had been on annual leave. He, however, declined to comment on the issues of the GETFund Staff Development Fund and rather directed the Awake News’ Editor to speak to his college secretary.
Mr. Wisdom Dogbe, who has been acting as the College Secretary for the past 7 years, told Awake News that the Principal has been on leave for only 2 weeks while declining to comment on the Staff Development Fund, insisting the Reporter must be physically present in his office to give any further comment.
The College’s Press Statement following Awake News’ publication
This morning, upon the Principal’s return to the office, the college’s management issued a statement denying ever receiving any GETFund Staff Development Fund. The statement also insisted the Principal never vacated his post while describing Awake News’ report as “UNFOUNDED and completely FALSE”
