Over 300 Residents benefit from Health Screening Organized by an Assembly Member Aspirant

In a bid to improve Healthcare access in the Wuxor, and Sremanu electoral area, Mr. Japhet Festus Gbede, assembly member aspirant led a free health screening exercise for over 300 residents on Saturday ,10th, January,2026.

This event was organized under the “Healthy Wuxor, Have and Sremanu Electoral Area “was held in collaboration with the Akatsi South Municipal and Win with Health foundation.

Madam Winner Mayeden, a midwife at Akatsi South Municipal Hospital and founder of the Win with Health Foundation, stated that the outreach was organized to mark her birthday on July 17 and to provide residents with quality healthcare at no cost.

Jane Naana and Armah Kofi BoahSome Participants were screened for malaria, high blood pressure, diabetes, and breast cancer. Children, including those under two months, also received routine medical assessments. Free medications were distributed, and residents with identified health complications were referred to the Akatsi South Municipal Hospital for further treatment.

Ghana continues to face significant public health challenges, including the rising burden of non-communicable diseases such as hypertension and diabetes, alongside persistent cases of malaria and preventable childhood illnesses. Limited access to healthcare services in rural and underserved communities further increases these challenges, often leading to late diagnosis and avoidable complications. Community-based health outreach programs have therefore become critical in bridging the healthcare gap and promoting early detection and preventive care.

The Assembly aspirant, Mr. Gbede, leading the outreach explained that this initiative was aimed at bringing healthcare closer to residents and ensuring the well-being of the communities under his electoral area.

The residents received education on breast care for women, hygiene, food safety, and preventive healthcare measures.

The Founder of the NGO, Madam Mayeden also advised the residence the importance of early detection and regular medical check-ups, noting that many residents were unaware of their health status. She expressed hope that the exercise would reduce sudden deaths from preventable diseases.

The founder, urged that early detection was the safest way to address complicated health issues, especially when most of the beneficiaries had no idea about their health status.

Mr. Emmanuel CK Todzoh, a Paediatric Nurse Specialist also urged parents to prioritize their children’s health and ensure their health insurance coverage is up to date for consistent access to healthcare.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Gbede, expressed gratitude to the Win with Health Foundation and Akatsi South Municipal Hospital, and called for similar initiatives to be extended to other underserved communities.

The outreach concluded with a donation of some items including clothes to the residents.
