A Red Notice issued against former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, has been permanently deleted from INTERPOL’s database after the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files (CCF) ruled that it was non-compliant with the organisation’s rules.

This was disclosed in a public notice issued on February 13, 2026, by the law firm Minkah-Premo, Osei-Bonsu, Bruce-Cathline & Partners, counsel for Mr. Ofori-Atta.

According to the statement, the CCF, during its 135th Session held on February 4, 2026, determined that the Red Notice issued against Mr. Ofori-Atta “appears of a predominantly political character” and therefore contravenes INTERPOL’s regulations. As a result, the commission ordered that the notice be deleted permanently from INTERPOL’s information system.

The CCF further explained that after a thorough examination of the materials submitted, it found that the challenged data registered by the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) of Ghana did not comply with INTERPOL’s rules. Consequently, it directed that the data be removed from its records.

The decision effectively clears Mr. Ofori-Atta’s name from INTERPOL’s global alert system, marking a significant development in the matter.

Justice Kusi-Minkah Premo, Esq., counsel for Mr. Ofori-Atta, signed the notice on behalf of the legal team.

The development is expected to generate political and legal discussions in Ghana, particularly regarding the circumstances that led to the issuance of the Red Notice and the implications of INTERPOL’s ruling.
