Award-winning highlife musician George Kwabena Adu, known in the entertainment circles as Kwabena Kwabena, has made a shocking revelation on what inspired him to write the hit song “Aso.”

Kwabena Kwabena gained prominence in 2004 when he recorded his debut album ASO, which featured Kontihene and had hits that included Ka Kyere Me, Trodom, Adea Waye Me, Fakye Me, and Me Ne Woa, which received massive airplay in Ghana and other parts of the world.

It established him as a premier vocalist and one of Ghana’s finest songwriters, which was coupled with major awards for vocal performance and songwriting.

According to him, he wrote more than half of the songs in TroTro while studying at the Accra Technical University (ATU).

Speaking on Showbiz on TV3, the Bue Kwan hitmaker said he preferred to occupy the back seat during his days at ATU, saying those sober moments were blessed with loads of songs.

“I wrote Aso in a tro-tro. That album, I would say I wrote about 70-80% in a tro-tro. Because around the time I was writing these songs, I was at Accra Poly. I would close from school, walk from the campus to Circle before I board a car going to St. Johns to go home. And I always like to be in the back seat of the tro-tro, the last corner, so when I’m there I will just put my file on me, and then I begin to write. So those sober moments, God blessed with a lot of songs,” he said.

Asked what the future holds for his career in the next two decades, the celebrated musician says there are no plans on dropping the microphone; however, he will take up shows yearly and will charge a million dollars.

“I wouldn’t say I will retire, but I will be relaxing and doing some great shows. I hope around that time I will take a million dollars to do a show, and I will do shows once a year”. Kwabena Kwabena added.

He released his second album, Dabi, in 2007 with Abotare, Bibini, Dadea Anoma, Jealousy, and others all featured in the album.
