Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Ayawaso East, has launched a fierce rebuttal of allegations suggesting he engaged in vote-buying during the party’s recent parliamentary primaries, describing the claims as malicious attempts to tarnish his hard-earned reputation.

In a strongly worded press statement dated February 9, 2026, and addressed to media houses, Baba Jamal disclosed that he appeared before a committee chaired by Kofi Totobi Quakyi to respond to allegations of voter inducement during last Saturday’s primaries in the Ayawaso East Constituency.
According to him, he categorically rejected the accusations and used the opportunity to emphatically assert his innocence, stressing that he has never engaged in any act capable of undermining the democratic principles of the NDC.
The outspoken parliamentary candidate underscored his long-standing loyalty to the party, revealing that he had previously contested the Ayawaso East primaries on two separate occasions but accepted defeat without protest out of his unwavering commitment to party unity and cohesion.
He recalled that during the primaries leading to the 2024 general elections, he secured 309 votes against the winner’s 452 votes, insisting that despite the loss, he chose discipline and party loyalty over personal ambition.
Baba Jamal argued that his increasing popularity among grassroots supporters stems from years of dedicated service, credible initiatives, and an unblemished record of integrity rather than any underhand dealings as being alleged by detractors.
He further expressed appreciation to the investigative committee for granting him the platform to clear his name and extended gratitude to delegates of the constituency for the confidence reposed in him to lead the party into the upcoming by-election.
Reaffirming his commitment to the development of Ayawaso East, Baba Jamal pledged to work tirelessly with party faithful and residents to deliver meaningful progress and improved livelihoods.
He ended his statement with a passionate call for unity, declaring that the NDC must remain focused and resilient in its quest to serve the people.
