Highlife Legend J.A. Adofo Expresses Profound Love for Shatta Wale

Ghanaian Highlife legend Obuoba J.A. Adofo has singled out award-winning dancehall artist Shatta Wale as his favorite and the one he prefers to listen to the most.

According to him, he fell in love with Shatta Wale’s songs, though he gives listening ears to other musicians, adding that rebranding from Bandana to Shatta Wale was the defining moment for him.

He stressed that the toughness of Wale is unparalleled, arguing that his era would have been better had they had Wale’s type.

Speaking in an interview on Max FM’s Max Drive Show, J.A. Adofo praised Shatta Wale’s fight for the betterment of Ghanaian musicians.

“I listen to all these musicians, but Shatta Wale is one person I admired when he re-emerged. The day I heard his name, I fell in love with him. Shatta Wale is a tough guy. In the music industry, if we had his type who will fight for the betterment of Ghanaian musicians, it would have been great to have him during our time,” he stated.

He is famous for his meaningful lyrics and unique voice, and he led the City Boys Band and earned the nickname “Black Chinese” because of his distinctive appearance.

Throughout his career, Adofo released many hit songs, including “Yaa Boatemaa,” “Ankwanobi,” “Owu Mpaso,” “Akutiabo,” and “Nya Asem Hwe.”

He has over 30 albums to his credit and has performed live shows that were often sold out.
