Ghanaian Highlife legend Nana Kwaku Duah, widely known as Dada KD, has passed away, his family has confirmed. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
Dada KD’s death comes just days before a scheduled performance in London on May 25, where he was expected to share the stage with artists such as Obrafour, Slim Buster, and Kojo Blakk.
Celebrated for his soulful voice and emotional delivery, Dada KD was a cornerstone of Ghanaian Highlife music. His contributions earned him numerous accolades, including Best Male Vocal Artist at the 2004 Ghana Music Awards UK.
Tributes have begun to pour in across social media. Gospel musician Empress Gifty posted simply, “Dada KD,” in a solemn farewell. Media personality Afia Schwarzenegger also shared a tribute on Instagram, joining countless fans mourning the loss.
Dada KD’s most beloved songs include Fatia Fata Nkrumah, Tekyere Ma, Ene Menye, Wosuro a Wondi, and Honey Love. His music continues to resonate with both older and younger generations, cementing his status as a Highlife icon.
His passing marks a great loss to the Ghanaian music scene, but his legacy will live on through the timeless songs he gifted to the world.
