Ghana Premier League club Hearts of Oak recorded a comfortable 3:1 triumph over Division One side Golden Kick on Saturday at the Pobiman Sports Complex.
Hamzah Issah, Zaid Suraj, and Henry Boateng were the scorers for the Phobians, with Edward Bentum grabbing the only consolation for the visitors.
Proving their dominance over their opponents, Hearts opened the early minutes with intense pressure.
Stephen Appiah was offered an opportunity to put his side in the lead, but his drive wasn’t powerful enough to beat the Golden Kick goalkeeper.
In the 42nd minute, Hearts deservedly opened the scoring through Hamza Issah when he fed on a decent pass from Ransford.
Back from recess, Edward Bentum scored from the spot kick to draw level in the 72nd minute.
Zaid scored the second goal for Hearts. It was a beautiful header from a pass from Frank Duku before Henry Boateng completed the sweet victory in the final minutes.
The game was a preparatory encounter to prepare the team and keep them in shape ahead of their Super Clash match, Match Day 22 with arch-rivals Asante Kotoko on Sunday, February 15, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
This weekend will see MTN FA Cup Round 16 games honored as record holders Hearts of Oak faced a round of 32 exit.
