Hearts, Kotoko get tricky opening fixtures for 2025-26 GPL season

Accra, Aug. 5, GNA – The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has released the fixtures for the 2025-26 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season, which will begin in the second week of September, 2025.

Defending FA Cup champions Asante Kotoko would begin the campaign with a trip to Sunyani to face Berekum Chelsea.

Hearts of Oak would also begin their league journey when they host GPL debutants Hohoe United at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Reigning GPL champions Bibiani Gold Stars would begin their title defence at home against Bechem United at the Duns Park.

After making a return to Ghana’s top flight, Swedru All Blacks would play Nations FC at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in week 1.The first leg of Ghana’s Super Clash between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak would be played in week five of the 2025-26 GPL season.
The Porcupine Warriors would be hoping to continue their recent dominance against their archrivals at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The return encounter of the Super Clash is set for week 22.
According to the GFA, the dates released are in alignment with the 23rd FIFA World Cup 2026, scheduled for June 11 to July 19, 2026.
An ordinary GFA congress is expected to be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2026, as stakeholders converge to discuss other modalities of the upcoming season.
