Ghana’s Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, is in Botswana to highlight the country’s achievements in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

He was invited by the Government of Botswana to participate in a two-day high-level conference from July 10–11, 2025, focused on advancing regional collaboration in skills development.
“This visit reflects Ghana’s commitment to promoting skills development across the continent,” Mr. Iddrisu said upon arrival. “We believe that sharing our experiences in TVET implementation can support our sister nations in building resilient and future-ready workforces.”
The summit, officially opened by Botswana’s President Duma Gideon Boko, brought together educators, policymakers, and development partners to exchange best practices in vocational training and education.
Mr. Iddrisu is expected to outline Ghana’s key milestones in TVET reforms, including:
- Aligning training with industry demands,
- Expanding access to technical education,
- Investing in modern infrastructure and equipment.
He emphasized the importance of regional partnerships in addressing Africa’s skills gap and driving economic transformation through education.
“Our goal is to equip young people with relevant skills, drive innovation, and create sustainable jobs,” the Minister noted.
The engagement marks another step in Ghana’s efforts to position itself as a continental leader in education reform and youth employability.
