The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) is set to make history with plans to construct Ghana’s first-ever amusement park in Cape Coast, the capital of the Central Region.
GTA CEO Maame Efua Houadjeto made the announcement at the 2025 Ghana-China Business Summit on June 23, outlining a bold initiative to position Ghana as a leading travel destination in Africa.
“We want to create the first state-of-the-art amusement park in Cape Coast to add to our tourism destinations,” she stated.
As part of broader tourism upgrades, Houadjeto also called on investors to support the development of eco-friendly hotels near key attractions such as Kakum National Park and Mole National Park. She revealed ongoing discussions with several interested partners ready to fund eco-lodges in these locations.
“I’m already talking to a few people who are keen to help us build eco-lodges at Kakum and Mole,” she added.
In addition, the GTA plans to construct new event centers in Accra and the Central Region to accommodate a growing number of tourism-related events.
“We’re looking at expanding our space by building additional event centers to attract more activities to our regions,” Houadjeto said.
The proposed developments are part of the GTA’s push to enhance tourism infrastructure and attract both local and international visitors.
