A youth activist of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Afeavo Patrick Kwesi, has stirred public conversation following comments criticising the operations of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and its Customs Division.
In a Facebook post, Mr. Kwesi said he was “tempted to believe” that GRA and Customs constitute the biggest threat to the country’s development if challenges within the system are not addressed. He accompanied the remarks with a tribute to a late professor, suggesting broader concerns about how regulatory and administrative practices may affect national progress.
His statement has since generated mixed reactions online. While some commentators supported calls for reforms to improve efficiency in revenue mobilisation and port clearance processes, others urged a more measured approach and constructive engagement with state institutions.
The discussion adds to ongoing national conversations about improving transparency, reducing bureaucratic bottlenecks and strengthening collaboration between government agencies and stakeholders to enhance Ghana’s economic growth and development.
