Heart of Lions produced a stunning performance to beat giants Asante Kotoko 3-1 at the Kpando Sports Stadium on Saturday in the Ghana Premier League Match Day 21 fixture.
Goals from Seedorf Asante, Ali Fawzi and Michael Ephson ensured the Volta side bounced back from their disappointing 1-0 away defeat to Bechem United in their last game.
However, it was prudent to redeem themselves and get their winning boots on.
Lions broke on a counter, but goalie Camara was quick to react to deny Asenso in the early minutes of the game.
The hosts came close again as Camara was called again to save Bismark Amin’s 30-yards decent free-kick.
Lions kept pressing and finally opened the deadlock in the 35th minute through Seedorf Asante.
The midfielder was quick to pounce on a rebound inside the penalty box to give Lions the lead.
With minutes left to honor in the first half, Ali Fawzi doubled the advantage for Lions with a decent header to make it 2-0 at half-time.
Asante Kotoko pulled one back in the second half.
In-form skipper Samba O’Neil scored from the spot kick to make it 2-1 after the referee spotted a handball inside the penalty box.
In the 72nd minute, Michael Ephson placed the icing on the cake with the final goal as Lions held on to their lead until the final whistle.
The win becomes the second for gaffer Bashir Hayford and his changes in their last nine outings, having lost six and drawn one.
