Kofi Adams
Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has reaffirmed the government’s dedication to reviving Ghana’s local football league.
Speaking at the 2025 Ghana Football Awards, Adams acknowledged the major challenges plaguing the Ghana Premier League, including match-fixing, poor officiating, and dwindling fan interest.
He emphasized that under President John Mahama’s leadership, the government is committed to working closely with stakeholders to reignite passion for the local game.
“We want to see the full potential of Ghanaian football realized. That’s why the government is determined to collaborate with all partners to bring excitement back to our domestic league,” Adams said. “The local game must be revived,” he added.
This renewed focus comes at a time when Bibiani GoldStars emerged as league champions, and Asante Kotoko clinched the FA Cup title. The government’s support is expected to help rebuild trust, improve professionalism, and attract more fans to local matches.
