Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has confirmed that the government will officially roll out the No Fees Stress policy on Friday, July 4, 2025.

The initiative, originally promised by President John Dramani Mahama during the 2024 election campaign, is designed to waive academic user fees for all first-year students in public tertiary institutions within the first 120 days of his administration.

Announcing the launch at the 58th Special Congregation of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), the Vice President said the policy is already attracting high interest.

“By mid-June, nearly 130,000 students had accessed the application portal, and over 100,000 had successfully completed their applications,” she revealed.

She noted that the Students Loan Trust Fund is overseeing the implementation of the programme and assured the public that the government remains committed to expanding access to higher education.

The July 4 launch will formally open the application window for eligible first-year students seeking financial relief for the upcoming academic year.
