Gov’t releases GHS462m for 120,000 nursing trainees’ allowances

The Ministry of Health has confirmed the disbursement of GHS462 million in allowances to support 120,000 nursing trainees across Ghana.

The payment, covering a six-month period, fulfills a major campaign promise by President John Dramani Mahama ahead of the 2024 elections.

In a statement issued on Thursday, July 17, the Ministry described the payment as a vital intervention aimed at improving the welfare of trainee nurses and boosting morale within the healthcare training system.

“This development marks a significant milestone in supporting nursing education and ensuring Ghana’s health sector is equipped with motivated professionals,” the Ministry said.

It also thanked President Mahama and all stakeholders involved in ensuring the timely release and distribution of the funds.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with Nursing Training Colleges to maintain high standards in healthcare education nationwide.
