A group of Teachers, Coalition of Aggrieved Teachers has petitioned President Akufo-Addo drawing his attention to the claims by the Ministry of Education that all teachers in the country have been paid their arrears.

In the petition sighted by Awake News, the President of the Coalition, Mr. Abdulai Muniru said “coalition wishes to bring to the attention of the president, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, that a large number of teachers have still not been paid their legacy arrears contrary to claims by the government that all arrears owed teachers have been paid”

“We received with shock and surprise the announcement by the government that it had cleared all arrears owed teachers in the country when in reality that is not the case.” – Abdulai Muniru added.

Mr. Abdulai Muniru has given a one week for their issues to be addressed warning the President should be ready for “Massive voting against the government in the upcoming general elections”,  “Massive campaigning against the government”, “Embarking on industrial strike action when school resumes”, “Filing legal suit against the government.”

PETITION TO THE PRESIDENT ON NON-PAYMENT OF LEGACY ARREARS BY COALITION OF AGGRIEVED TEACHERS

The above coalition wishes to bring to the attention of the president, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, that a large number of teachers have still not been paid their legacy arrears contrary to claims by the government that all arrears owed teachers have been paid.

We received with shock and surprise the announcement by the government that it had cleared all arrears owed teachers in the country when in reality that is not the case.

In this regard, we wish to bring to your attention our grievance to enable your good office to address them as a matter of urgency. However, failure to address our concerns within a period of one month we would advise ourselves.

We, therefore, wish to state emphatically that failure of the government to honor this request will lead to the following:
1. Massive voting against the government in the upcoming general elections.
2. Massive campaigning against the government
3. Embarking on industrial strike action when school resumes
4. Filing legal suit against the government.

In the light of the above, we hope our listening president will act accordingly.
Thank you.
