Government settles 31-day arrears for school feeding caterers

Government has made a significant stride in resolving the outstanding arrears owed to caterers under the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP), clearing 31 days of debt for the first term of the 2024/2025 academic year.

This pivotal payment, facilitated through the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to supporting this vital initiative.

Hajia Fati Forgor, National Coordinator of the GSFP, has lauded the government’s prompt release of funds, stating, “I see it as a vindication of the government’s commitment to supporting the program and ensuring its continued success.”

This commendation highlights the government’s dedication to fostering a stable and efficient school feeding system.

The GSFP Secretariat is spearheading a comprehensive overhaul of the program, focusing on Empowering local authorities to manage operations more effectively and Elevating the nutritional value and standards of meals provided, thus ensuring caterers receive prompt compensation for their services.

The government acknowledges the invaluable support and collaboration from donor partners, recognizing their crucial role in sustaining the initiative.

This development comes as efforts continue to address past challenges and improve the program’s overall efficacy.
