The Government of Indonesia has officially opened applications for its 2026/2027 academic year scholarship programme, offering fresh opportunities for Ghanaian students to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Maulana Malik Ibrahim in Malang, East Java.

The announcement, released through the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat (SCHOLSEC), adds to the growing list of international partnerships and educational opportunities Ghana continues to enjoy under the current administration.
Political observers say this forms part of the broader commitment of the government to strengthen human capital development, expand international educational linkages, and position Ghanaian youth to compete on the global stage.

According to SCHOLSEC, the gesture from Indonesia underscores the deepening cooperation between Ghana and its international partners, collaboration that government communicators argue has seen remarkable growth in recent years.
The state-owned UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim will open its doors to brilliant Ghanaian students seeking advanced studies in diverse fields, a move many believe validates the government’s push for global educational exposure for the youth.
The scholarship is open to qualified candidates at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Full eligibility details and programme requirements are available on the university’s international office website: http://io.uin-malang.ac.id.

In a sector that suffered years of neglect, education analysts note that the current administration’s revitalisation of the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat through transparency reforms, expansion of bilateral scholarship agreements, and timely disbursement of fundshas restored the institution’s credibility.
Many believe that the continuous inflow of international scholarships is not accidental, but a direct result of the government’s sustained engagement with foreign partners and its strong diplomatic presence.

Signed by Alex Kwaku Asafo-Agyei, Registrar of Scholarships, the release reaffirms the Secretariat’s commitment to widening access to global academic opportunities for Ghanaian students.
As the government continues to secure such opportunities, supporters argue that it demonstrates a clear contrast between an administration that invests in its youth and one that merely makes promises.
