The Ministry of the Interior has announced the release of funds for the payment of outstanding rent allowances owed to personnel of the Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana National Fire Service and Ghana Immigration Service.
A statement issued by the Ministry in Accra on Monday said the payment covers arrears for the 2025 year and would be made to eligible officers across the three services.
The Ministry said the release of the funds underscored Government’s commitment to improving the welfare of security personnel and addressing outstanding obligations.
It commended the affected officers for their patience, understanding and professionalism during the period the allowances remained unpaid.
The statement reaffirmed Government’s resolve to prioritise the welfare of personnel within the security services, acknowledging their critical role in maintaining internal security, safeguarding lives and property, and protecting the nation’s borders.
It said arrangements had been put in place to ensure the smooth disbursement of the funds through the appropriate administrative channels.
