Members of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) are casting their votes today, June 30, 2025, to elect national executive officers across designated centres nationwide.
In the Bono Region, 27 registered journalists are voting at the Regional Electoral Commission office. All candidates in the region are running unopposed.
Similarly, in the Northern Region, voting began on schedule. A total of 14 delegates are expected to vote, 12 from the Northern Region and 2 from the North East Region. Here too, all candidates are unopposed, with the election focused on filling national executive positions.
Speaking from the GBC voting centre, election official Fatima Kanton reported an encouraging turnout. “So far, so good. Everything has been smooth. As of 9:10 am, eight out of 14 delegates have already voted,” she said.

The GJA elections are being closely watched as they shape the leadership responsible for advocating for journalists’ rights and media freedom in Ghana.
