The Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) has conducted an inspection of rural telephony facilities in selected communities within the Ellembelle Municipality of the Western Region as part of efforts to improve telecommunication access in underserved areas.

The inspection exercise was led by the Director of Corporate Affairs at GIFEC, Francisca Mawufemor Adjei, who headed a technical team to assess communities requiring improved electronic communication connectivity.

The team visited Aluku, Dump, Aidoosuazo and Atuabo, where they evaluated existing network coverage, identified connectivity challenges and assessed infrastructure gaps affecting communication service delivery in the beneficiary communities.

District Chief Executive for Ellembelle, Joseph Kwesi Armah Agyekum, joined the GIFEC delegation during the inspection tour. He reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at expanding digital access and improving communication infrastructure across the municipality.

The inspection forms part of GIFEC’s nationwide mandate to bridge the digital divide by extending telecommunication infrastructure to unserved and underserved communities.

Officials indicated that findings from the exercise will guide planning and implementation of future connectivity projects to improve access to reliable telecommunication services for residents in the Ellembelle area and other rural communities across the country.
